dewaWe have reached the conclusion of your 24 week project within the Customer Services Division and I am writing to thank your team for their hard work and success that they have delivered.
Using the most dear measure of achievement, our current savings rate is above AED 40 million per annum. This is more than 100% ahead of the objective. It also represents a 700% return on investment for DEWA. This has been achieved by reducing the number of staff positions required for 2008 by 137 full time people. This has meant that we no longer need to recruit for those positions in what has become a very tight labour market. In addition our direct work-force is now able to deliver 25% more per day in terms of measurable work and services provided. In our business this is equivalent to the work of more than 400 people. This has ensured that we can the demands of an expanding customer base at a higher level of service and lower level of cost.
The means that have been used to implement these changes are worth noting. The management tools that have been developed for "Master Scheduling" demand, workloads and resources have provided a fundamental change in the way we plan long term. Allied to effective weekly and daily planning and assignment of work, this has been the foundation of the improvements made. The more active style of management encouraged by the review meeting structure has built upon this foundation to drive down inefficiencies and implement operational improvements.

None of this would have been possible without the full involvement and support of our management team and of staff at all levels. This you have managed to organise on a very positive note. The training programme that has been implemented has helped this process and 235 of our supervisors and managers have been able to improve their skills and effectiveness as a result.
Your team have continued to work well with the DEWA culture while still being able to engineer the consensus which is necessary for change. I'm sure that they will be able to continue this success in the upcoming DEWA project.
