 In the summer of 2011, we asked Cannizaro to help us take efficiency improvement a step further within our major UK operating division, SIG Distribution. This division employs 2,000 people and operates across seventy branches. Having already been the subject of a substantial rationalisation programme, we knew that realising further improvements would be a difficult task but a necessary one given on-going market conditions. It would require not just systems and process changes but the winning of hearts and minds within a change weary environment.
Having assessed your methods and personnel during the initial three week review phase, SIG Distribution’s management team felt confident that the project plan proposed by Cannizaro would deliver significant improvements within the key areas of vehicle utilisation, warehouse management, administration and sales productivity together with the improvement and use of standardised management controls and practices across the branches.
As we enter the final phase of the project in the UK, I am delighted to say that expectations have been exceeded and the results achieved are making a considerable contribution to our performance and profitability. Your team have won both the liking and respect of our management and staff and have brought very noticeable changes to morale and motivation. Savings achieved to date are valued north of £ 6m per annum with more to come.
